Hate Being Tricked?
Does it annoy you when someone tricks you into a commitment? How about being invited to dinner only to find out they wanted to sell you something? It certainly bothers me and I’m sure it does you too. Now, to be fair, most people don’t annoy you on purpose – they’re probably just excited about something or another. I just wish that folks would be more upfront about it.
How about if someone gets excited about something really important? Maybe they’re trying to call 911 in order to save someone’s life? That’s worth getting excited about. What about a college graduation or a major life achievement? Those are exciting things too. I guess we need to pick and choose carefully what to get excited about . . .
Do you know what I get really excited about? Easter. I think it’s becoming my favorite day of the year. It’s the day believers all over the world celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus. The event that changed the world forever.
I love preaching on Easter too. I am so thankful to God that I get to share the wonderful news that God made a way for everyone to come into right relationship with Him.
It’s the most wonderful thing to see a changed life and often times – it happens on Easter.
I think it would be awesome if we ALL got excited about it!
Do you think you could prayerfully consider inviting someone to hear the Good News that Jesus loves them? Is there a person in your life who needs to hear the life-changing message of the Gospel? How about someone who is fed up with religion? Or maybe another who has been wounded by “the church?” Invite them . . .
In the New Testament there are numerous examples of those who “went and told” the good news and there are also examples of those who said: “come and see.” Easter Sunday can be one of those times when we say with joy:
We are going to have three opportunities on Easter Sunday: 8:00am, 9:30am or 11:00am. The services will be a bit shorter than usual and the Gospel will be clearly preached. The kids will have a great time too – so encourage them to invite their friends too.
I am so looking forward to this special day; I trust that you are as well. Please invite someone today.
In Him,
Steve
